This morning, I had my best swim of the season. The water temperature was warmer than the air temperature, which created dampness just above the water’s surface. It was surreal to swim in it with a crystal blue sky and warm sun on my face.
The water temperature is dropping fast now, and the nights are freezing. 5-6 degrees Celsius.
The water is around 16-17 degrees Celsius now.
It feels nice and cool on my skin, and today, I was not so distracted during swimming.
Usually, my mind wanders off.
I had to stay focused and not give in to the thought that the water may be too cold to swim 15 minutes up and 15 minutes back.
Once I am 15 minutes away and I turn back, I can’t get out of the water if I feel too cold. I will be in the middle of a lake.
So, I had some work to do to calm my mind.
“What if I am too cold halfway…….. “
AND there it comes, acting and living in fear. What if I had paid attention? What if I had believed it? I can tell you; I would have gotten cold and put myself in danger.
Or I would have swam for a maximum of 15 minutes, a shorter distance. But that is not training my body anymore. (Yes, that is my belief.)
99% of people do this. They believe stuff because it is proven, and everybody else thinks it. Or they have other thoughts that seem to be true for them but not for other people. But they live by these false thoughts day in and day out.
So, I had to change my thoughts.
“Wow, the water feels nice and tickling on my skin.
“ I love this water temperature so much.”
“ I swim half an hour and stay focused and warm.”
And guess what happened? My body did NOT get cold.
The body conceives what the mind believes.
It is such a valid quote from Napoleon Hill.
I’ve learned it can also be the other way around. The body gives you signals, but does the mind believe them because they are so out of place?
I’ve learned to trust my body.
This morning’s swim reminded me of an aqua healing session I had with one of the participants of my retreat in Bali in March this year.
We have a power water healing session in the villa’s pool every morning before breakfast. (It’s like a meditation in water, but because I energise the water, the effect is so much more significant)
The lady was shaking and shivering. She experienced a freezing body. The water was at least 32 degrees, which is warm. She wanted to get out of the water. I told her
“It is just the mind resisting and sending your body signals to sabotage your process and session.”
It took us some time, but finally, she could surrender to feeling cold.
The water was NOT COLD, but her body sure did experience cold.
She could let go of the thought and stopped shivering. She made a significant shift during that session.
Had she gotten out of the pool and listened to her mind; her mind would have prevented her from experiencing what she was about to experience.
This year, I am organising a water healing retreat in Portugal.
From 25 to 29 November. When it is your time to join one of my retreats, you will feel a pull towards it, and in that case, I’d love to talk to you.
